Valindo

'Vale Lindo' lovely valley, as the Portuguese say. A piece of land, situated 20 km from the ocean and westcoast, very near to the villages of São Luís and Cercal, in the Alentejo, Portugal. The ideal spot for holidays. Sheltered against the Western ocean winds between lush greenery. The olive trees and the old fruit trees, together with the old grapevines remind us of the original inhabitants of Portugal.
The Alentejo is a region of extremes. Heat and rain, stillness and storm interchange with each other. The farmers are used to working very hard to be able to harvest. They guard the flocks of sheep, cows and goats on the hills. They are proud people. They are not so strictly Catholic as the people of the North and remained communist the longest of all following Carnation Revolution in 1974.
Each season is different, the flowers in May make a feast of the spring holiday. In winter days finally the rain comes, interchanged by warm winter sun. The grass is becoming green again! The summer can be scintillating. A siesta is irresistible. Other than the distant motor of the farmer, the rooster, the dog and the birds it is very quiet. Here you can exhale...
